The Polymerized Tung Oil Original Formula and Botanical line create a beautiful hand-rubbed surface that is easy to maintain and develops into a lovely patina over time. Depending on the sheen, multiple hand wiped coats of the desired sheen are applied to achieve the desired sheen and level of protection. Wiping finishes are ideal for novice finishers and for pieces that have carvings, applied pieces, awkward architecture like the multiple right angles found in bookcases, cabinets, chairs and other detailed work that make finishing a challenge.

We often recommend using one of our fortified products such as Wiping Varnish. The addition of a high quality resin to the Polymerized Tung Oil offers more protection against liquid damage while still providing the tactile quality and hand-rubbed patina on an oiled surface.
